Password Manager Not Auto-Filling — Fix Every Browser

Why Password Managers Stop Auto-Filling

Three main causes: the extension is disabled, the website uses a non-standard login form, or the saved credential does not match the current URL.

Fix 1: Check the Extension Is Enabled

Click the Extensions (puzzle piece) icon in Chrome or Firefox toolbar. Ensure your password manager extension is enabled, not just installed.

Fix 2: Pin the Extension to the Toolbar

Extensions → Click the pin icon next to your password manager. Pinned extensions can “see” page context better and auto-fill more reliably.

Fix 3: Check the Saved URL

Open your vault → Find the login entry → Check what URL it is saved for. If saved as login.example.com but the form is on secure.example.com, auto-fill will not trigger. Edit the entry to add the correct URL.

Fix 4: Trigger Fill Manually

Click on the username field → Click the password manager icon that appears inside the field (or right-click → your password manager → Fill).

Fix 5: Re-grant the Extension Permissions

Extensions → Your password manager → Details → Site access → Change to “On all sites.” Restrictive permissions prevent the extension from reading forms on all websites.
